Carla Weil Honored as NWNH's Housing Champion
On Friday, October 19th, our friends and community development partners from Neighborworks New Horizons celebrated 25 years as an organization and presented two leadership awards. C4C Chief Strategy Officer Carla Weil and Blanca Velez Beauchamp, Executive Director of Puerto Rico Neighborhood Housing Services were the respective recipients of the Housing Champion and Resilient Leader awards. Carla was lauded for her enthusiastic, visionary and persistent 25-year partnership with NHNW. Ms. Beauchamp is a highly respected community leader who launched Levántate y Resplandece (Rise and Shine) hurricane relief initiative in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
Founded in 1992, NWNH has worked tirelessly to strengthen neighborhoods by developing quality, affordable homes and supporting many community building initiatives. The New Haven-based organization is a long-time partner/affordable housing borrower that is continuing to work collaboratively with C4C in promoting access to affordable housing. The organization also organized and mobilized resources to Puerto Rican residents during the hurricane crisis.
The 25th Anniversary Gala was a lively “Night in the Caribbean” themed event that was held at the lovely Canal Boathouse in New Haven. Carla Weil’s moving acceptance speech touched many hearts as she expressed her gratitude first to her family and secondly to her co-workers and community partners for the opportunity to live a life that is rich and purposeful through her chosen work. Congratulations Carla!
